each insurance plan is different. you have a card with a phone # to ask questions. call them. we can’t tell you.

Teeth bleaching before/after implant or bridge?

I am having a tooth extracted, after which I will need either a bridge or implant. But I also have teeth that are rather yellow, and I want to get them bleached. If I get the bridge put in before the bleaching, will there be a problem from mis-matched colors?

Or should I get the bleaching done first? That seems backwards to me, since the color is so much less important than replacing the tooth. But if it’s necessary, that’s the way I’ll go.

BEST TO BLEACH PRIOR TO FINAL RESTORATION BECAUSE ONCE MADE THE COLOR OF THE PORCELAIN CAN’T BE BLEACHED OR CHANGED.

It is different for everyone. Our teeth darken naturally with age. When you bleach your teeth, it bleaches the entire tooth, not just what the bleach touches. If you pulled the tooth out, you would see the whole root system is bleached as well. That being said, I believe all the things that stain our teeth (surface staining ) like caffeine, smoking , red wines, can be cleaned off by the hygienist. Over a long period of time, yes, these things will change the color of your teeth internally, but it took you all these years to reach the shade you are now, and I do not think you will ever go back to that shade after you bleach. Maybe if you live a really long long time…lol… Bleaching lasts a very long time, your teeth can still stain, but clean it off…lol
Not everyone is a candidate for bleaching though. There are different ranges of colors, Yellows, Grays, reddish-browns. Yellows bleach out very well, but grays and reddish-browns almost never do.
When you start bleaching, look in the mirror everyday, when you are happy with what you see, stop bleaching, put the bleach in the fridge for future maintenance applications. I rec. to my patients that after every professional teeth cleaning (usually every six months) they put their trays in to brighten them up. That is usually all the maintenance you need to keep the shade you like.
There are no rules to shade, it is a matter of what makes you happy when you look in the mirror. If you don’t care, don’t bleach, if it bothers you, throw your trays in.

Two years ago my denist sold me "Colgate Platinum Gentle Plus’, this year it’s ACP Day White.

I found the results better with Colgate Platinum.

Most of the bleaching products on the market today are relatively stable with little to know relapse.

Does teeth bleaching help decalcifitation?

I have some decalcifitation on my two front teeth and I’m thinking about getting teeth bleaching to cover them. Will bleaching make it better or worse?

already weak teeth, if you bleach them it will get more weak. You need crowns or if it is small a composit filling will do.
