Whitening Teeth – without Bleaching?

Are there any known ways in this universe that can truly whiten teeth that doesn’t involve a form of bleeching. Bleaching (as done by e.g. Crest white strips) seems very mideval in that it literally strips a layer of your enamel, thus weakening your teeth and makng them prone to tooth decay. I have seen such toothpaste whitening products but find them more as marketing gimmics for cosumers gullable to a quick fix.

Can someone tell me if there is an alterate way to re-whiten ones teeth that doesn’t involve stripping precious teeth? I read that eating certain types of fruits can help, but i doubt it would make significant difference.

I find it surprising that there is no special product out there that simply "colors" the teeth a whitening shade overtop the yellowing for a short period (e.g. 3-7 days) — a cloak over the problem. I would figure that product would be much more valuable to the consumer (healthier teeth) and the manufacturer (repeat biz)

a mixture of baking soda and peroxide(a few drops) and brush teeth with it (do not swallow any of mixture it tastes like Sh–) use this method no more then 1 or twice a week , remember to rinse throughly

Can i use my bleaching trays for my teeth as a substitute for my broken retainers?

I recently just broke my bottom wired retainer and my teeth are feeling sore since i havent been able to wear my retainers for 2 weeks now. I had my braces taken off over 10 years ago and ive been wearing them every three nights. I have a pair of customized bleeching trays that fit over my teeth perfectly. They look similar to the invisalign clear retainers but i think its made out of a thinner material. Do you think that these bleeching trays will hold my teeth in place until i get a new pair of retainers. Also since i need new retainers would you suggest i get the invisalign retainer instead of the old fashioned wired ones. How much are invisalign retainers and are they easier to clean. thanks

your orthodontist can make you hard plastic retainers…it would be silly for you to get invisaline for retainers because that will set you back thousands of dollars. Invisaline is made to move teeth. Your bleaching tray is soft and pliable so I would not use them as retainers because your teeth will shift…but I guess if that is all you have in the mean time it couldn’t hurt to try until you get others. I am sure if you call your orthodontist he will fabricate a new one for you…it only takes a day or so to make.

White teeth?

What is the best way to keep teeth white apart from not drinking coffee, coke, smoke and brush three times per day? Do genes have anything to do with natural coloration and is it the same for men and women? Do liquids like Simple White and bleeching help or hurt teeth?

bleaching actually hurts it. when dentists x-rayor put a special light to your teeth they can tell if you’ve used bleaching products. it damages your teeth and you also risk the chances of taking off the enamel. hence yellow teeth forever. yes genes can play a role but a small one. it has to do with your daily habits. some people are more cavity prone due to genetics. i would recommend baking soda and crushed up strawberries mixed with water. the natural acid from the strawberries whitens your teeth and baking soda does as well and it is safe because strawberries are made for eating naturally, and baking soda is in most tooth paste anyway. so mixing the two, which is what is recommended in some health books i’ve read, is supposed to work. it is the only safe way i know other than the things you’ve mentioned.

Aren’t the US candidates teeth excessively white?

I have never seen such white teeth! What’s up? They all look like they have false teeth. What are they doing bleeching or using porcelain veneers? Is this normal in America now? What do you think of the candidates teeth? Did you notice that they are so white?
I don’t have anything against white teeth but the teeth the candidates are sporting are almost cartoon-character-like.
Wow, I’m being attacked for bringing up a point. I guess looks don’t say anything about personality. I care about what comes out of their mouths too. And my teeth are white, by the way.

If looks don’t matter then why do they bother to have white teeth? I’m really sorry if some of you lost you teeth due to lack of brushing. Don’t be so hard on people who wear grills the next time you see them. Porcelain veneers are just a grill for the aged.

Well, dentists have to eat too, you know. What do you have against cosmetic dentistry?

Why do Americans look better than the British?

I dont mean to sound rude or ignorant but I noticed that people in the U.K look different from their American counterparts as in the overall majority of americans look better than people in the U.K. By better I mean……its kinda like how most african americans look better than their African counterparts(not racist by any means) but people in the U.K seem like they’ve had a hard life, alot of them are pale and have bad teeth or it could just be that most americans look fake and superficial with excessive make-up,tanning, teeth bleeching, e.t.c?????? or it could also be economics b ecause usually rich people who speand alot of time and money on their looks look better than poor ppl…help me out here, maybe there is a reason why people in U.K look slightly less attractive than Americans????
I think its safe to say that the average American makes more money than a briton our average yearly capita for a family is $45,000 compared to the $31,000 for a brition, and also dont forget life in the U.K is alot more expensive than life in the U.S so ppl in the U.K do tend to be alot poorer than most Americans

And yes I have visited the U.K and the mojority of western and sourthern europe

because they wear bigger hats.

You should be in your later teens (high school) as you should have all of your permanent teeth when you whiten. If you are young the whitening products can tend to cause a lot of sensitivity.If you have braces it will also not work well.

First thing you need to do is have a thorough dental cleaning and see how they look after that since buildup (plaque, tartar and stain) will be removed at that time. Then if whitening is an option, use a mild treatment like Crest Whitestrips. Your baby teeth were probably much whiter and that is very normal.
